Pathfinders Participate in Conference-Level Pathfinder Bible Experience

Pathfinders from across the Chesapeake Conference congregated at Ellicott City (Md.) church for the conference-level Pathfinder Bible Experience (PBE), formerly known as Bible Bowl. Groups of youth gathered together, discussing answers to the questions relating to the books of the Bible read and studied in preparation: Hosea, Amos, Jonah, Micah, Ezra and Nehemiah. Additionally, this year pathfinders in Chesapeake participated in a new approach to testing their Bible knowledge using Kahoot!, an online quiz platform. "We wanted to adapt to the learning styles of our young people," says Carl Rodriguez, youth and young adult director for the Chesapeake Conference. "By doing the Kahoot! quiz we have more people now and different learning styles studying the Bible [for PBE] in a more efficient manner. We've been using the Kahoot! program already for Camp Meetings, so it was just a matter of transferring it over to the pathfinder ministry." "For most of our kids, this is their first time participating," says Christiellen Almeida, director of the Triadelphia pathfinder club. "They like this new method, it feels more like a game. It's going to be much more exciting for them to see other teams study and work even harder." The first-place teams moving on to the union-level PBE are Spencerville Team #1, Atholton and Adom Doves (Washington Ghanaian church). "It's not just about winning," says Kelly Perez, pathfinder from the Dover Diamonds club. "It's about getting closer to God and making friendships with other pathfinders."
